At the end of October, the majority of the patients registered at St David’s Surgery will transfer to Solva Surgery following the termination of the Contract there by the single-handed GP in St David’s earlier this year.
This transfer will increase the numbers of patients registered at the Practice significantly. However, the employed staff at St David’s Surgery will also transfer and the two staff groups will combine resulting in a larger permanent team of three salaried GPs, five registered nurses and two Health Care Support Workers, all supported by a bigger administration team. Some support will continue to be provided by the regular GP Locums.
In order to accommodate the increased numbers of patients and staff, some internal alterations will be taking place in Solva Surgery over the coming weeks to convert underused rooms and to create additional consulting and treatment rooms, alongside moving office space to the first floor of the Surgery. We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by these essential works which are for the benefit of all patients.
From 1st November 2024, Solva Surgery will become known as Meddygfa Penrhyn / Peninsula Practice to reflect the broader population served by the larger Practice. This follows work with the Peninsula Working Group which includes representatives from Solva Community Council, St David’s City Council and Llanrhian and Brawdy community councils.
